Ischia, the green isle

So called because of the exuberance of its natural vegetation, the largest of the islands in the archipelago of Campania has an area of 46 square kilometres, a coastal perimeter of 34 kilometres and, on Monte Epomeo, a maximum elevation of 789 metres.
Ischia is an island made special by its natural beauty, its history, its traditions and even its volcanic origins which burst out in the thermalism that has been a feature of Ischia since the time of the Greeks and Romans.
An Ischian holiday is not confined to just sun, sea and spas. Around the island many places offer entertaining opportunities: Ischia for an evening stroll to the Castle; the Corso with famous designer stores; the Riva Destra with a variety of venues ranging from wine bars to classic restaurants and American bars.
Casamicciola from the newly-renovated piazza to its enchanting seaside promenade.
Lacco Ameno with its fascinating Corso along the seafront.
Forio with the Church of the Soccorso on its terrace above the sea and the ever lively main Corso.

Serrara Fontana with the beautiful village of Sant’Angelo and Mount Epomeo which surely merits an excursion.
